Hi Sherridan
I am e-mailing to say thank you for a great day on Wednesday. It was really interesting and I enjoyed meeting you and talking to you. I look forward to receiving your report .............I was going to write you a letter of my appreciation for the day but the postal strike put me off.
Have a lovely week-end.

Hi Sherridan
Thanks for last week, I found it very useful. I'm going to try and meet.....the CSR director, the guy who heads the CSR consulting arm, someone in the field in industry (eg BP), plus desk top research.
You mentioned organising my CV off key attributes - such as people, analytical, communications, change - and was wondering if you had an example template I could look at?
On reflection I agree with you that I might need to go into financial services sector first as at least I know the industry - plus it needs to build up its brand!
Thanks,
Shaun

Hello Sherridan,
Thank you for the reports. I enjoyed the day too and it gave me a lot of food for thought. It helped me realise that I can take more control of how I write that last "statement in support of the application" section on the application forms and present myself as a whole person rather than "chop myself up" to fit each of their selection criteria separately...............
.....Thank you very much for your input, all the analysis and your advice. Our session was a very positive experience for me and I feel that I have taken a lot from it.
I will let you know how things progress for me.
Wishing you all the best, in your work and for you and your family,
Kindest regards
Irene

Dear Sherridan,
Just to say thank you for seeing XXXXX on Monday.
She came back exhilarated and inspired about her future and has seemed in a cheerful, positive mood ever since.
We have looked through the personality profiles together and they are very revealing, if not unsurprising!
We are looking forward to seeing your report.
Many thanks again.

Dear Sherridan,
Many apologies for taking so long to reply to your email.........
I just wanted to say a HUGE thank you for seeing me on January 9th. I found the day hugely helpful and came away feeling really energised!
I have read through the report and have learnt a lot. Now I have settled into my new place I am starting to look into possible careers. I have also signed up on prospects, which is a fantastic site, thank you for suggesting it.
Once I have completed my CV I would really value your advice, would you mind if I sent this through to you.
Once again, many thanks.
With kind regards,
Hannah.

Hi Sherridan,
Just a quick note to stay in touch. Things going well on the job hunt. I just missed out on a job with a new media company on Friday - got down to the final 2 out of 150 applicants. The CV seems to be doing the trick and so far getting interviews for the majority of things I'm applying for. Got an interview with XXXXXXX on Thurs for an interesting role - one the recruitment co. wouldn't put me forward for, so went direct to the company thanks to the advice you gave me. Am confident it will just be a matter of time.
Cheers

Hi Sherridan,
Just got back from surfing in Portugal - wonderful- and picked up the report.
I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and am feeling v. positive about finding a more fulfilling job. Would recommend this to everyone; in fact, you might find a few more stressed out IT project managers from the South West contacting you over the next few months!......
Many thanks

Hi Sherridan
Thank you for the report, I am sure it will make interesting reading!
I was exhausted at the end of it, but I found the time we spent together really useful and helpful. I spent that weekend looking at the various ways I could go back to studying, and applied to Birbeck last week (as their website recommends that applications are made by 1st May,) I got a letter yesterday offering me a place to start in October!
Now, I only need to work out what to do for a living while I'm studying!
Many thanks

14/04/08 Career Change Advice
Dear Sherridan
Since I saw you in October last year I have been plotting my escape from the dreary world of estate agency. I probably should have quit sooner but I have now found what I am going to do so will be handing in my notice in the next two weeks. In September I am, hopefully, going to the Oxford College of Garden Design to take a Post Graduate Diploma in Residential Landscape Design and Architecture. The course lasts one year and then I intend to start my own design business. In preparation I am learning to draw and have rather surprised myself that I seem to be able to do so! I cannot tell you how excited I am about this opportunity – no idea why it has taken me so long. However I don’t think I would have got this far without having seen you, so thank you..........
Hope all is well with you.
Best wishes
Colette.

Hi Sherridan,
It was a very good experience meeting you and going through all career process. I must say I needed some time to assimilate all the information, think about it and have it all clear in my mind.
Thank you for the report, is very detailed and accurate and really I see myself there......
I did some research and I found two courses.....at Birkbeck University that seem really interesting. One is an MSc and the other one is a post-graduate course. This last one seem more objective and practical rather then academic, maybe I’ll try this.......
I would need two references to apply to the University, can you be one of the referees? I would need to send you a form for you to fill and then send it to the University.
Thanks for reading Sherridan and I look forward to hear your thoughts about it.
Regards,
Carla

Dear Sherridan!
I received the report, many many thanks.
I went for an interviewm at UEL on monday and today I was offered a place on the Msc Occupational and Organizational Psychology Feb intake.... EEEBA!!!!! I'm really pleased and happy!!!!
I'm attending a 10 week course in Positive Psychology at City University.... it's inspiring, the theories sounds (sometimes) a little bit idealistics and sounded that they have been putting the self help books into research and saying is all new and psychology... but it's "positive" to see this direction in Psychology... I'm enjoying it!!!
Hope you well!!!
and many thanks... I might contact you in a near future when I'm applying for jobs ok ;) Have a good weekend...

Hi Sheridan
Happy to make a reference, just let him have my email address or tel no . Interestingly, I have just as of yesterday pulled out of all commercial activities, although that will take some time to unravel, to concentrate on studying homeopathy and communication around that topic. So I think your instinct was spot on – to use my television, internet and creative skills to something more aligned to my passions!
Everything else is good and all good learning!!
Glad to hear things are going well for you and the Priory clients is probably a very lucrative flow for clients!
Best wishes

07/01/08 Career Change
Dear Sherridan
Happy New Year.
I wonder if I could ask you help with writing a reference for me?
Our meeting last October has certainly been beneficial to me and, together with the report, it has enabled me to focus on a way forward. Since I saw you, I've been busy researching Occupational Therapy as a career. I sent off for details from the College of Occupational Therapists, have looked into courses, visited two university open days and arranged to undertake some work experience at City Hospital in their OT Department, where I will be going on Wednesday this week. I've also written to the City Councils OT Service and will hopefully hear from them soon.
After all the research, I've decided to 'go for it' and apply .............
As you are probably aware, to start next September, I need to apply to UCAS by 15 January. I apologize for the short notice, but having looked at the application form this weekend I had completely forgotten that I would need to include a reference, rather than just supply a name and contact details of a referee as you would for a job application. Could I ask if you would be willing to write a reference for me to verify my suitability for the course? My understanding is that if you are happy do do this, the reference will need to be sent to me so that I can include it in the on-line application.
Please let me know if you would be happy to do this, and if you need any further details from me to complete it, again I apologize for the short notice.
Many thanks for your help to date.
Kind regards
Anne

Hi Sherridan,
Just a quick note to give you some feedback and let you know how
I’ve got on…. It’s been a long haul but I have
finally been offered a position .... in London. It’s
a maternity cover contract so only twelve months but I’m
hoping that it will lead to other things.....
Your report and the meeting with you were both very helpful and
enabled me to sort out what I wanted to do and where I wanted to
be. As I said it’s been a long haul – I’ve had
so many interviews over the last few months where I have come a
very close second (damn those other people in London!) but finally
something has come of it all. And something I’m really happy
with too.
I hope all is well with you and best wishes for Christmas and the
New Year,

I really enjoyed meeting you yesterday and found the day very helpful,

it will not make much difference to the outcome of your report

Dear Sherridan,
I hope you are well? You may remember that I came to
see you last year (9th June 06) for a career
consultation. I contacted you again some time later
to let you know that I was applying for a Masters
course and I have now completed it. I did an MRes in
Global and Comparative Politics..... and it has been an overwhelmingly
positive experience......I have re-read the report
you sent me, which is spot on in describing me and my aspirations.
I can’t thank you enough. In particular, your comments about quality
assurance and problem solving resonated with me. I began searching
for jobs and found the attached.....
If you are able to offer any advice or any tips for my
CV (which I am trying to write at the moment), I would
be so grateful.
With all best wishes,
Annabel

Hi Sherridan, I am so glad that Allan did take up the suggestion to get

Hi Sherridan,
Just wanted to say thank you for the report- it seems you put a great
amount of thought into it, and I really appreciate it. The depth
of analysis really exceeded my expectations. I have never received
such good and considered
career advice before (I have been recommending you).
Since I saw you I have been coming to terms with the fact that my life
will different than I had pictured it- I think you are right that I was
attracted to the idea of medicine, and the financial security, while not
actually enjoying studying the body or spending time in hospitals. I just
wish that I had come to see you sooner!

.Hi Sherridan,
I thought I'd let you know that I've finished at Edinburgh, and should
be getting a distinction. Though I don't find out the mark for my project
for a couple of weeks, my supervisor thinks I should get a good enough
mark for the distinction. I've also accepted a job with (a) subsidiary
of BAE Systems, as a defence analyst.
This is the sort of OR consultancy role that I've been looking for, although
I also had offers from many other different companies, but I think that
this will give me the best experience for the future. There's no way I
would have been able to get to this stage and be as happy and confident
in what I'm doing without the help and support you've provided, so I'd
like to thank you again.
My brother has got a couple of jobs with different graphic design agencies
in London and is enjoying working there, with a permanent position starting
at the beginning of October for three days a week, which will allow him
to work on his freelance projects. I can't really keep up with what he's
doing, but it's all on his website.
Many Thanks Again

I'd like to thank you again for all of your help and support over the
last year, if someone had said to me 14 months ago that I'd be working
to achieve a distinction in an MSc course in Edinburgh I wouldn't have
even considered it a remote possibility, and now I'm doing something I
truly find fascinating. I thought you might also like to know that my brother
got a first in his degree (the only one in his year) and is now looking
for various graphical design positions.

Hi Sherridan
Hope all's well with you, with business and home life.
It's almost a year since our session, and much has changed for me
(and your sage advice and remarks have helped me focus, thanks).
As per our chats last year, I did take a Product Management role
last summer, and it has gone rather well.
I have moved to London in mid January, and have been flat out with
work (same company) travelling a lot in the UK and to Ireland.
However, I'd now like to explore other possibilities, and feel it's
time "to be ready" and get a CV sorted.
I seem to have misplaced your tips on putting CVs together and self-marketing.
Could you possibly re-email those to me, to get me started?
(it's been 10 years since I last wrote a CV...)
Many thanks and regards
Sonia
11/05/07 Career Analysis
Dear Sherridan
I feel badly that I have not thanked you properly earlier for assessing
Nick last month, largely because his attitude still needs considerable
realignment – turning up late for mock exams really does not help!
I suppose I have been hoping for signs of improvement that I could report
back to you.
Anyway, thank you very much indeed. You certainly made him stop and think
about what really does/doesn’t make him tick and I think in the longer
term it will be very helpful that a total stranger – i.e. someone
absolutely unbiased, not his dreary old parents or his group tutor – has
told him pretty much the same sort of things that we have been trying to
get through to him, in particular that he is actually quite bright. From
his point of view, of course, this is not at present a Good Thing, because
it means he is expected to do some serious work. In fact, he did claim
to be revising before his last Economics mock, but the results are yet
to come …
As he is likely to need further encouragement to properly investigate
your suggestions, I am urging him to go back to talk to the Connexions
consultant who visits college – and have armed her with your page
of recommendations. Now all I have to do is pin him down to it!
Many thanks for your advice and assistance.
Best wishes

I came to see you for a career consultation in November 2005. I was

Dear Sherridan
Hope you are well.

They are wanting me to take over the landscaping side of the business

manage the current projects and as my skill & knowledge increase,
offer the service in-house. At the end of the 3-month term the
contract will be discussed and with mutual agreement extended to

Many thanks again for all your help and advice.

Career Psychometrics
I saw Sherridan about a year and a half after
finishing graduate school with an M.A. in International Studies.
I always thought I wanted a job with an emphasis on foreign affairs
but I never believed I was hard-nosed enough to become an international
journalist or would get any satisfaction working within a bureaucracy.
I had been
travelling to South America and had particularly enjoyed working
with
others so I thought I might enjoy a commercial environment. But,
whatever area that could be I had no idea.
One of the really revealing parts of my
consultation was the psychometric and aptitude tests.
Some of the conclusions regarding my strengths and
what I enjoy in life may have been what I already suspected, but it
was a great encouragement to see that coming from an objective source
and
motivation to go out and achieve success and personal satisfaction.
The personal interview involved a brainstorming of all the different
types of opportunities that could be suitable for me, some of which I
had no idea existed! One area was the in-house public affairs departments
that major international businesses are developing. I saw how this would
be a great way to combine my interest in international affairs whilst
working in a more dynamic environment.
Sherridan showed a genuine
interest in me, and what exactly would make me personally tick in
life. The whole experience
was a great stimulation to not just making a positive career, and life
decision,
but being bold enough to then just go out and do it."

Career Advice
Just wanted to let you know how I went on after my day with you at
Careermax. I used the contacts you gave me and spoke to The Design
Council which hepled me to gain a better understanding of the different
aspects of design and which I would prefer to pursue. I found that
I was being drawn to Product and Industrial Design, so, I began to
research different courses within my area.
Just by chance one friday afternoon I was able to speak to the BA(Hons)
Product/Industrial Design course leader at University of Central Lancashire
who asked me to sketch a number of different products in different
perspectives, over the weekend. I took them to him on the monday afternoon
and I had enrolled on the course by 11am the next morning.
It is all a bit of a whirlwind as it is only a matter of weeks since
I came down to London but I am really enjoying it and it feels really
good to be finally doing something I am interested in and to know that
I am on a path that I really want.
I wanted to let you know how I was getting on as all of this would
not have been possible without my day at Careermax. The whole process
was really helpful and the results were very interesting as they gave
me direction as to what I really should be doing with my career. Careermax
was instrumental in changing my career from a job I hated and feeling
like I was at a dead-end to enjoying each day and looking forward to
what the future holds.
I would recommend the experience to anyone and I know I won't look
back.
Thanks again to you and all the staff at Careermax."

I found the advice and help you gave invaluable.
It really helped to focus my thoughts and give me a practical solution,
which I was definitely lacking before. I have passed on your company
details to two friends (there seems to be a serious problem with ‘thirty-something’ career
women in London – no one likes their careers!), so hopefully
they will be in contact with you,"

"Dear Sherridan
Got my report yesterday and I'm still going through it... so much
information, which is brilliant, so much to think about, because all
the jobs you mentioned are the jobs I would want to go for. I used
to think that it would be so hard to get them, but after reading the
report and with all the information you gave me, my only trouble is
deciding which one to go for.
Thank you so so much for making it easier for me. I now know for sure
what I'm capable of, and once this xxxxxxxxx job is over, I'll be able
to go for it. But meanwhile I'm looking into doing an art history course,
just for me, something I always wanted to do. I think it can only help,
because it will make me happier.
Take care and thanks again, I am really thrilled
with the report!!"

I found the process really stimulating and valuable. I was also very
impressed by the general professionalism and sensitivity surrounding
the whole procedure.

I was having terrible difficulty in deciding
how to proceed with my career, or lack of it. Your advice to me at
the time was to return to university and study an Operational Research
or Management Science course. I have just finished my first year
and am over the moon to have got a First. I would like to thank you
and your company for one of the best services I have ever had. I
will advise any friends I know who are in a similar position to myself
to contact your company, and if you ever require a reference to a
potential client, please feel free to give them my name and telephone
number, I would be only too pleased to recommend your company to
them.”

I found all aspects of the procedure useful and wished this had been
available when I was in my early 20s as I found it all particularly
interesting and would have found the guidance useful. I even showed
the Report to my bosses at work. They found it an extremely interesting
exercise and agreed with a lot of the assessment.”

I found all aspects of the procedure really useful. The opportunity
to stand back from family and work colleagues and to look at problems
objectively, when I had been in a difficult situation and had started
to completely lose confidence, was very helpful. I went back to work
on Monday and got offered a promotion and a substantial raise. I think
it's a super service and I shall be back.

Your comments to me a few years ago were to create a
business that suited my lifestyle, and that is what I have done. My
partner started his own business too and we are both loving taking
loads of holidays, moving house, spending time together, and having
fun! In my current role I am often using your name and recommending
that my clients speak with you, because I found the whole experience
to be a very positive and extremely helpful one, one that helped me
to achieve what I have gone on to achieve in a very real way thank
you.
